Japanese hair straightening in London
PRO STYLIST | Hiro Shimamoto | London, UK
????
The process originated in Japan in the 1990s, but it is now a much sought after salon treatment in the UK and around the world.
What is Japanese Hair Straightening?
Japanese hair straightening, also known as thermal reconditioning, is a treatment that uses a combination of chemicals and heat to permanently straighten hair.
The treatment is popular with my clients because it can give people with curly or wavy hair a low-maintenance, straight hairstyle that lasts.
How long does Japanese Hair Straightening last?
Hair that has been treated with MOMOKO Japanese Straightening solution remains straight and can last years.
Only the regrowth will require a retouch. The time between treatments will depend on your hair type and how fast it grows. However, the average time between root retouch sessions is 4-6 months.
Is Japanese hair straightening safe?
Although there are alternative brands, I choose to use MOMOKO™️ treatments with my clients. Momoko Japanese Hair Straightening does not contain formaldehyde or any other aldehydes, and pass UK & EU safety standards. Hair is left looking and feeling softer, shinier, and healthier than ever before.
Does Japanese straightening work for damaged hair?
It will be difficult to get good results if your hair is already damaged from other chemical processes, such as bleach, highlights, grey cover, etc. However, it may be possible to improve the condition of your hair.
During your consultation; if I feel your hair is not suitable for this process, I may suggest an alternative treatment. Keeping your hair healthy is my number one priority!
Does Japanese Hair Straightening work on European or Afro hair?
Japanese hair Straightening is suitable for many different hair types, not just asian hair.
How does Japanese Hair Straightening work?
It's important to have your hair straightened by a trained professional. From start to finish, I will personalise the entire process to your specific hair type, using only the highest quality products. Here’s what to expect during your visit to the salon:
Step 1 :
Pre-treatment
First, I will apply Momoko’s innovative protein and moisture-rich pre-treatments to your hair to instantly repair and restore its health.
Step 2 :
Applying the solution
Momoko’s safe and tested formula is applied to break down the hair's natural bonds and release the structure that holds its existing shape. Your hair will then be rinsed.
Step 3 :
Bring on the heat!
Once blow dried, the hair is flat-ironed at high temperature to create a straight, smooth texture. The hair is reshaped by the molecular reconfiguration of the thermal heat.
Step 4 :
Neutralise and style
A neutraliser is then applied re-establish the bonds and lock the new shape into place. Finally, I will style your hair and teach you how best to care for your new look!
What to do after Japanese Hair Straightening
It’s important to follow these aftercare rules for the first 48 hours after your treatment:
Do not wash or shampoo your hair
Do not use hair bands, pins or grips etc.
Post a lovely review on Google ;)
The result: silky-smooth straight hair!
Your hair will be permanently reshaped, and will not revert to its old shape even after washing or styling! Hair is left healthy, shiny, and in better condition than before.
